Enjoying the next generation

Enjoying the next generation

So this weekend in South Florida we had a tropical storm. My girls trip with their dad got rained out and they ended up at the house with me.
I always tell you that there is never a day that I don’t feel blessed for my life now. And I have to say this weekend I felt exceptionally blessed.

As my big one made breakfast, their boyfriends, my little one and I started talking and laughing.
We spoke about the state of the world and about the laws they want to change in their lifetime. I was so impressed talking to these young people.

My people, my girls who I think are amazing human beings. My baby is now an intern for a Hydroponics farm in Overtown. This is a very poor neighborhood in Miami, she works beside people who are homeless and trying to get their lives back together. She spoke of one man who even though he was homeless he praised God everyday. He said he was grateful and blessed even in his current situation.
This made her realize how truly blessed she is and that she wanted to give back to the community she now works in.

My big one travels the world and she has met people that have nothing yet are the happiest.
She sees the struggle and knows how blessed she is just to have a home or food to eat. Being able to see all of this makes both of them want to help because they realize that there before the grace of God, goes I. Anyone of us could be in that position without God’s grace and we must always have gratitude for what we have and where we are.

They spoke of gun violence, women’s rights and their love of God. I tell you, if others in this generation think and act like this, the world will be a better place than we left it to them.

So today my friends remember, this is the next generation, we need to encourage them, teach them even when we don’t think they are listening. We need to tell them we are proud of them and believe that they will change the world because with our help, they can.
