Stepping out of your box at any age

Stepping out of your box at any age

So this weekend I got asked on a second date and since he had recently gotten introduced into the world of rock climbing, asked if I wanted to go.
Well, let me tell you, first I am afraid of heights. Second, I’m thinking, am I too old to be doing this?
But as I am always telling all of you, step out of your box and so that’s what I did. I went, I put my fear and doubts aways and I went for it.

We were going to meet his friends there that have been doing it for a while and when I got there his “friends” were in their late 70s. I’m thinking really this couple is going rock climbing at their age? But it made me realize that age is just a number especially when the husband climbed all the way to the top not once but twice and he even had a form of Parkinson disease that made his hands shake uncontrollably.

Wow, I was impressed and inspired. I knew that when I posted these pictures most of my friends would ask if I was nuts, adding you’re too old for that shit. But since I’ve never felt or acted my age, I don’t care. But this taught me that it’s all mind over matter, you’re never too old to go for something. Whether it’s a triathlon, learning a new sport, trying something you’ve never done before, it doesn’t matter your age, just your mindset.

Well, I actually did it, was I scared? Hell yes, but I pushed through the fear. I kept telling myself if this couple could do this, so can I. I want to be like them when I grow up, I want to keep learning and experiencing new things until I slide into my grave screaming, what a frigging ride!

So today my friends, the lesson here is that if you stop learning, you will die. You will wither away thinking you’re older than you actually are.
Step out of your box, stop putting restrictions on yourself. Age is just a number in your head, it’s up to you to go out there and show them this is what you got going on, at any age.
Live your best life until you have no life because there are no second chances here.
