Women’s rights are being violated across the world

Women’s rights being violated across the world Part 1

Recently I read this terrible story about two sisters who were allegedly killed by their husbands, an uncle and a brother in a so-called “honour” killing a day after they were tricked into traveling to Pakistan.

According to World News, Aneesa Abbas, 24, and Arooj Abbas, 21, were strangled and shot dead after arriving in the eastern city of Gujarat with their mother, Azra Bibi.

They were forced to marry their cousins to help them apply for visas so they could remain in Spain since both sisters had dual citizenship.

Aneesa and Arooj were killed when they refused to help. Both women wanted to divorce their husbands /cousins. “The investigations have confirmed that both the sisters were killed in the name of ‘honour’,” said the investigating police officer.

As horrific as this sounds, this is a common practice in these countries and we as women should be scared all over the world. This could easily happen to us, it is a slippery slope when you start taking away women’s rights. First it’s her body, then it could be voting, then being forced into arranged marriages, then as in these countries, men allowed to kill their wives in the name of honor?

Wake up people, this is going on around the world in 2022! This could be me, this could be you. One of my favorite quotes is “There before the grace of God goes I”

Only we got blessed to be born here but that doesn’t mean that one day, soon it could be us too. Watch the Handmaid’s tale and that is an accurate description of what could happen if we don’t speak up now.

It doesn’t matter that we don’t live there, they are our sisters, we need to be a voice for them that they do not have. We must speak out for all women who have no or little rights because they will come for us next! And who will speak out for us?

So today my friends, please speak out, on social media, write our congressmen, our ambassadors, send emails, speak out about this injustice and all the injustices against women around the world because if you don’t this may be you next.
