The world’s gone crazy

The world is going crazy

If you’ve been living in the world in the last 2 years you know that the world is going crazy. In my lifetime I have never seen what is going on in the world right now. First we had covid, a world wide pandemic. Then the world shut down, and people went into a panic, we even had a toilet paper shortage. Lord knows what that was about?

We had a racist, degrading, man running our country which allowed the closet racist come out and be who they had always been but in secret. We had race riots, and more racism than ever. Black men especially seemed to be targeted and people were afraid for friends and family.

There were the most mass shootings ever in the United States. We ended 2021 with 692 mass shootings, per the Gun Violence Archive. The year before saw 610. And 2019 had 417.

In America 41,000 people die from gun violence every year. An average of more than 110 per day.

We are in a recession worse than we have seen in the last 20 years. Gas prices are the highest they ever have been.

More than 13.1 million children in the United States are food insecure. Additionally, 14.5 million children live in poverty. Yes, this is in America, people!

How great are we?

And if all of this wasn’t bad enough we now have a serious Monkeypox epidemic going on.

It’s no wonder that depression among people is on the rise. An estimated 21.0 million adults in the United States had at least one major depressive episode. This number represented 8.4% of all U.S. adults.

Hello! All of this is enough to make everyone depressed.

So how do we hold on? How do we keep going when the world seems to be self-destructing?

I know for myself it is my faith, faith in God, in mankind and the good in people. Even when it seems like there is none, I still believe.

I try to do my best, be the best person I can be. To pay kindness forward, to speak out against injustice, to try to inspire others with my actions.

I try to see the glass half full, to stay positive when so many are negative. I hold on to hope, for a better world that I will one day leave to my girls.

So today my friends remember even though the world may seem to be losing its mind, even when we see so much bad every day, we need to hold on. Hold onto whatever gets you through your day. Be kind and remember everyone is going through their own personal hell you know nothing about.

And like I always say at the end of every blog…be the change you want to see.
