Celebrating others success

Cheering other’s success

Recently while scrolling through social media, I saw my neighbors who were appearing at the famous beach venue in South Florida, Margaritaville. I was just smiling from ear to ear, so happy to hear that they are doing well.
You see they became near and dear to me during the pandemic. I live in a villa community on a lake. When everyone was feeling down and almost hopeless, along comes Jake on the lake.

They owned the house across from our community and this father and son team would come out on their dock and would give us a show. Jake played the guitar and his dad would sing, not just sing but to get us all to sing along as well.

Every Friday and Saturday night from 530-7:00 we would all grab our chairs or blankets and head out to the lake to hear them play. We would bring food and drinks and feel blessed that we could meet all of our neighbors even if we were six feet apart.

We felt blessed because at least we had this. We got to be in nature, we were present in the moment and even though the world seemed to be imploding, we knew that there were kind people out there. We learned that we were all scared about our future, no one knew what was going to happen as more and more people died.

Yet this little piece of heaven took us away from all that was going on in the world. For those two hours the world seemed normal. They continued all through the pandemic every weekend as we all joined in singing and laughing.

I was so happy that this backyard duo continued to now make others as happy as they made us. And to know we were their first “groupies”

I am always telling you to live in the moment, and they found a way to do that for me and my many neighbors in this time of panic and desperation. I know many people hated the pandemic but for me it was a time to be with my family, to reflect on what was important, to give thanks for the little things in life, like Jake on the lake.

So today my friends remember everything is a lesson, if you chose to look at it that way. This lesson was about a little bit of kindness from our neighbors across the lake and the enjoyment that they gave us in such a desperate time.
I hope you will check them out and applaud their new found success as much as I am.
Thank you Jake on the lake for being such a bright spot in our darkest time and much success in the coming years.
