Another reason to hate Florida

Another reason to hate Florida

If Florida wasn’t the most fucked up state there was,  now there’s this to add to the list.

This year Florida passed a 15-week ban in abortion even as opponents warned it was unconstitutional so long as Roe stood. They don’t care and they are acting as if Roe vs Wade was already overturned. With “Deathsantis” running this shit show here, they are advancing new restrictions that aim to make abortion illegal in as many circumstances as possible.

Right behind them in ass backwards states is Oklahoma, in which a Senate committee approved a bill late this year that would prohibit abortion starting 30 days after the “probable” start of a woman’s last monthly period, before pregnancy tests are considered reliable.

Seriously? Most women don’t even know they are pregnant until at least a month and a half or longer. Many women have irregular periods to begin with so this has to be the most asinine law there is.

Other states are trying to ban or make it impossible for women seeking pills that induce abortion. Many  supporters of abortion rights had hoped it would provide a safe and legal workaround in states where it was illegal or all but impossible to get the surgical procedure.

In July, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade and with it the constitutional right to abortion, handing anti-abortion activists a victory they have sought for five decades. But from Florida to Idaho, Republican-led state legislatures did not wait.

I am obviously pro choice, this is your body and you get to choose what you do with it. I don’t see any of these right wingers trying to help or give more money to daycare or to these women struggling to have these children if they didn’t abort them. They are just worried about stopping women rights. What’s next, women’s rights to vote or other’s rights? Where does this stop?

I was raped at the age of 15, I got pregnant and I sure as hell did want to have a child. I am thankful that I had the option of abortion. It was something I never wanted to do or thought I’d be in a position to do but was grateful that these options were there for me when I needed them. I didn’t have to go to another state, although I would have or have a back alley abortion by some quack that made me sterile or God forbid try something myself but if you have no options you’ll do just about anything to fix it.

I am speaking on this yet again because the November elections are here and the only way for change is to vote!

So today my friends remember these are our rights and we must stand up and speak out to make sure that all others rights aren’t taken away. Whether you are a woman or not we must speak out because one day it may be your rights that are on the line and who will speak out for you. Make sure you get out and vote!

I will leave you with this quote which can be used for everyone, it was during the  Holocaust when the Germans were killing the Jewish people.

This was the famous poem by Martin Niemoller:

“First they came for the Communists. And I did not speak out. Because I was not a Communist. Then they came for the Socialists. And I did not speak out. Because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists. And I did not speak out. Because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews. And I did not speak out. Because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me. And there was no one left. To speak out for me”
