My guardian angel

Even though Thanksgiving is over, I am still giving thanks for what and who I have in my life. There are some people that come into our lives that are truly a blessing. People that you know are a gift from God, the universe or whatever you believe in.

I have been blessed with a few people like this. When I first got divorced and bought my home, I met my next door neighbor. He was a single dad as well. Right away he offered his assistance to me from moving in, to helping me build a shed, to a million other things that I needed.

As time went on we became great friends, and he was always there for me. I really needed help as this was all new to me, being single after 24 years of marriage. And I could always count on him as he could count on me.
He has been my rock, he has been my friend and he has been my “date” plenty of weekends and to plenty of events, even though we are just friends.

His thoughtfulness and kindness has made me cry on more than one occasion. I am blessed to have him in my life.
I often wonder why God placed him in my life? I haven’t lived the most exemplary life. I’ve screwed up, not done the right things all the time, so why me? But as he said to me I also have a big heart, I try to help others and I am always there for the ones I love, that is why good comes back to me.
Whatever the reason, I am truly thankful for him and his kindness.
Sometimes we need to learn not to block our own blessings, not to question why but just accept help and kindness without questioning a motive.

So today my friends I hope you learn to be grateful for the people that are gifts in your life. I hope and pray that you have your own guardian angel like I have. Or better yet, that you are someone’s guardian angel, brought to make their life just a little bit brighter. because you never know how your kindness will affect someone’s life.
A little bit of kindness goes a long way, so be kind today.
