Living my best life

Living my best life

I remember when one of my girlfriends said this to me.
“Girl, you’re living your best life,”
I laughed and thought, “Yes, I am!”

We talked about that while she was at my house, and we were doing the last video shoot for the documentary that I was blessed to be part of, #Thisisrape
We spoke of how I am living life large, living my best life, and how it was so amazing to her.

I told her it was because of where I came from. All of the hurt I had, coming from this place of brokenness, made me so grateful and taught me to enjoy every second of this life I am living now.

Some people wallow in their past, and it keeps them stuck. It holds a cloud over every other part of their lives. That is because they chose to do that. I chose to learn from my past and be grateful that I am no longer there. I chose to be present in each and every moment, to leave the dishes in the sink and the list of things to do in order to participate in real life, my life. I am just not “posting” about a good life, I am living it.

I truly am grateful for my past because without it, I wouldn’t fully appreciate my life now. I wouldn’t know what it takes to struggle, and I wouldn’t know what real blessings look like
now, without gratitude.

I am fully engaged in my life now. I don’t know how much time I have here, but whatever time it is, I am going to enjoy every second of it. I am constantly stepping out of my box, pushing myself beyond my limits, trying new things, meeting new people, and opening my mind up to explore.

I am willing to try pole dancing classes, Bachata and salsa dancing, and aerial yoga. I will drop everything for a friend who is in from out of town or someone who wants to do something with me because these are the moments, the memories that will last forever, this is what life is about.

It’s not about a 9-5, with a list of things as long as your arm to do and stress over everything every day. No, it’s about living your life to the fullest!

When you die, will you say I wish I did more things on my list, or will you say I wish I spent more time doing the things I loved with the people I loved?
No one regrets that they didn’t work more. Everyone regrets that they didn’t spend more time living the life they had.

So today my friends remember, the dishes and lists will be there when I am dead and when you’re dead but life won’t, so I am committed to living my best life now. I encourage you to do the same.
