Growing as a writer

Growing as a writer

So when I started this blog I did so because I thought there were other women out there that needed inspiration. I thought there had to be women in the same boat as me, women who were in a verbally abusive relationship. Who asked themselves if this all there is to life? I felt I couldn’t be alone. There had to be others that felt like they were all alone too.

As the years went by, I wrote about dating, issues with my girls, and other such topics. I then realized that many men followed me and read my blogs as well. I was shocked, even though I shouldn’t have been as men have the same issues as we do.

As I grew as a writer, I wrote about politics, world events, and women’s rights. There were a few haters that told me to “Stay in my lane”
“You’re an inspirational writer. That’s where you need to stay,” they said.

But I am a human being, and I have opinions. Whether you agree with them or not is okay, this is why we have free speech and free will to keep on scrolling. I now write about anything that touches me, a documentary I might have seen, injustice in the world, or even about Miley Cyrus calling out her ex. Because it’s all relevant and it’s about what’s going on in the world.

Recently, while speaking to a friend of mine, she said that she noticed my writing was different, that she’s watched me grow as a writer, and she was proud of me. That made me cry because, as a writer or even just as a human being, you want to grow and change.

This is what we should all aspire to, to learn the hard lessons, to take something from them to grow and change. To not hate others for the things that they did to you, to forgive and to move on. I hope that I will continue getting better at my purpose. I hope to continue to learn the lessons I need in order to grow.

So today my friends remember we are all a work in progress. We will all make mistakes, fall down, and fail, but as long as we don’t quit, we will grow. We can all learn to change and grow until we are called home, but only if we choose to be the change we want to see.
