24 Oct God’s grace
Grace
So this last weekend I was in California, celebrating my birthday. While I was there I went to my girlfriend’s church with her.
For those of you who don’t know, I grew up Catholic and then I converted to Judaism before I was married. Eventually I found Christianity and knew that this was where I belonged. I’ve also been to many churches along my journey because I love finding out what other believers do and I was looking for a place to belong.
So I was excited to come to my friend’s church while I was out here visiting. What I wasn’t expecting was to be moved to tears. This church was outside in a tent overlooking the mountains of California. As I looked at the trees, the horses and the mountains as I was hearing the word, it moved me to tears.
For me I couldn’t be more in touch with God than worshiping in all of his glory.
For me I have always been a believer of signs and that morning was not any different. While I was getting ready to go to church I was listening to my Bishop’s sermon when he mentioned Romans 828, which is my verse and then when I got to this church her pastor also spoke of this verse so that I knew God was speaking to me.
The message that beautiful Sunday morning was about God’s grace. Grace is a gift that you can’t earn, you can only receive it as a gift. Jesus is the biggest example of God’s grace because he sent him here for us.
Grace is: The hope that God gives us, and it doesn’t disappoint.
Grace is: To know that he empowers you through his grace.
We need to know that God blesses us with the best.
Even when we think that we may want something else, God knows what is best for us and gives that to us.
But God also allows us to go through bad times, so that we may be humbled.
God benefits us beyond what we asked for.
For when I am weak, then I am strong with God’s grace.
So today my friends remember that church is not the building, it’s not the place you go but it’s about connecting to God no matter where you go. It’s not about religion because I know that throughout my religious journey, it’s always been about God for me.
I hope that whatever you believe, it touches your heart and makes your life better and that you may have grace.
